Fructose, Sucrose, and Glucose OH MY!!

Fructose, Sucrose, and Glucose OH MY!!

Hey friendly folks! I thought it would be fun to start off with some sweet facts. Sweet facts as in the different classes of sugars. Let’s start off with the basics. We have our monosaccharides and our disaccharides. Mono meaning one and dis meaning two.

Glucose is the most important mono. Most carbohydrates are processed to Glucose and then immediately used for energy. If not used for the body’s immediate energy use, it’s stored in the liver and muscle cells to be used for later. Another mono is fructose. Fructose is the sugar found in fruits, vegetables, sodas, and fruit-flavored beverages. This sugar is more fat producing and not preferred by the body for energy use. Finally, we have Sucrose. Sucrose is our basic table sugar.

I cannot wait to cover more nutrition facts with you! Have a great day and remember, your body is only as good as what you put in it.
